CHIEFS ANNOUNCE 2026–27 TRAINING CAMP ROSTER
ROME, N.Y. — The Copper City Chiefs have announced their 2026–27 Training Camp Roster, bringing together an experienced group of players as the organization prepares for its inaugural season in the APHL.
The Chiefs’ camp roster features a strong mix of playing backgrounds, including 10 former NCAA Division III players, four players with professional experience, four players from established junior hockey programs, and one player coming from a high-level ACHA Division I program.
“We wanted to build a roster with experience and players who understand what it takes to compete at a high level,” said Chiefs Owner/President Jimmy Milliken. “We have guys who have played NCAA hockey, professional hockey and in some very good junior programs. There is going to be competition throughout camp, and that’s exactly what we wanted. Nothing is going to be handed out. Players are going to have to earn their spots.”
Leading the Chiefs behind the bench is Head Coach Kevin Krogol, who brings nearly two decades of NCAA Division III coaching experience to Rome. Krogol spent 17 seasons with the SUNY Morrisville men’s hockey program, including 14 seasons as Head Coach, after previously playing collegiately at Utica College.
“Kevin brings exactly the type of experience and leadership we wanted behind the bench,” Milliken added. “He knows how to evaluate players, he knows how to build a team, and after 14 years as an NCAA Division III head coach, he understands what it takes to get a group ready to compete. We’re excited to see what he does with this roster.”
Milliken also brings extensive experience in professional hockey operations and player recruitment to the organization, having previously helped build and recruit rosters at the professional level.
Training Camp will give Krogol and the Chiefs hockey operations staff an opportunity to evaluate the roster and determine the group that will represent the Copper City when the regular season begins.
The Chiefs will make their inaugural home debut Saturday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. at JFK Arena in Rome.
