Copper City Chiefs Make First Player Signing in Franchise History
ROME, N.Y. — The Copper City Chiefs, proud members of the American Premier Hockey League (APHL), are excited to announce the first player signing in franchise history with the addition of hometown defenseman Jaxon Rutkowski.
A native of Rome, New York, Rutkowski returns home after a successful collegiate career at Utica University.
The 29-year-old defenseman, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 185 pounds, brings an impressive hockey résumé to the Chiefs. Before his collegiate career, Rutkowski played junior hockey in the USPHL with the Rochester Monarchs and Hampton Roads Whalers. During his time with Hampton Roads, he recorded 13 goals, 35 assists, and 165 penalty minutes in 58 games, establishing himself as a physical, dependable two-way defenseman.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Jaxon to the Copper City Chiefs," said Chiefs President Jimmy Milliken. "Not only is he a talented defenseman with experience from a championship program, but he's also a Rome native who understands what this community means. We expect Jaxon to be a leader on and off the ice as we build our inaugural team."
Rutkowski becomes the first player to sign with the Copper City Chiefs as the organization prepares for its inaugural season at the historic John F. Kennedy Civic Arena.
