Copper City Chiefs Hire David Freed as Team Medical Provider

The Copper City Chiefs are proud to announce the hiring of David Freed, RN, as the club's Team Medical Provider for the 2026-27 American Premier Hockey League (APHL) season.

Freed brings nearly 20 years of emergency medicine experience to the Chiefs organization. Throughout his career as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, he has cared for patients in both community emergency departments and Level I trauma centers, treating everything from orthopedic and sports-related injuries to life-threatening trauma. His ability to rapidly assess injuries, make critical decisions under pressure, and provide expert emergency medical care makes him an invaluable addition to the Chiefs.

In addition to his nursing career, Freed is the owner of Hydrate 315, a Central New York wellness and human performance company dedicated to helping athletes recover faster, perform at their highest level, and stay healthy throughout demanding seasons. Through Hydrate 315, he provides evidence-based recovery and performance services, including hydration therapy, recovery modalities, nutrition guidance, wellness optimization, and athlete education.

"We're excited to welcome David to the Copper City Chiefs family," said Jimmy Milliken, Owner and President of the Copper City Chiefs. "Having someone with nearly two decades of emergency medicine experience, combined with his expertise in athlete recovery and performance, gives our players access to outstanding medical care.

Freed also holds several nationally recognized certifications that complement his medical background, including:

Certified Peptide Integration Specialist
NASM Certified Sports Nutrition Coach
NASM Certified Nutrition Coach
NASM Certified Wellness Coach
He currently serves as the medical provider for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, where he delivers game-day medical coverage, injury assessment, emergency care, and player support.

As the Chiefs' Team Medical Provider, Freed will oversee game-day medical coverage, pre-game player evaluations, injury assessment, taping and wrapping, emergency care, and player wellness throughout the season.
