Chiefs Sign Defensemen Drew DeBlasiis and John Syrotynski to PTOs

ROME, NY — The Copper City Chiefs have signed defensemen Drew DeBlasiis and John Syrotynski to player tryout agreements. Both players will compete for roster spots during the Chiefs’ upcoming training camp.

DeBlasiis, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound defenseman and graduate of Rome Free Academy, brings size, toughness and a physical presence to the blue line. A hard-hitting, stay-at-home defenseman, he plays an aggressive defensive game and is always willing to stand up for his teammates.

“Drew will come in and compete hard during camp to earn a roster spot,” said Chiefs Owner and President Jimmy Milliken. “We expect him to stand up for our guys and bring a hard-nosed defensive style to the Chiefs.”

Syrotynski is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman who will also enter camp looking to earn a place on the Chiefs’ inaugural roster. He played his junior hockey with the Utica Jr. Comets of the USPHL, recording three goals, nine assists and 77 penalty minutes.

Known as a dependable, stay-at-home defenseman, Syrotynski adds junior hockey experience and another competitive presence to the Chiefs’ training camp blue line.

Both players will have the opportunity to prove themselves when the Chiefs open training camp ahead of the 2026–27 season.
