Copper City Chiefs Sign Forward Zach Matyasik

ROME, N.Y. — The Copper City Chiefs are excited to announce the signing of forward Zach Matyasik for the 2026-27 American Premier Hockey League (APHL) season.

The 6'0", 185-pound forward brings a combination of skill, physicality, and experience to the Chiefs lineup after playing collegiate hockey at Northland College (NCAA Division III), Arcadia University (NCAA Division III), and SUNY Oswego (ACHA).

Prior to his college career, Mataysik played junior hockey in both the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) and CCHL2, where he recorded 20 goals and 22 assists in 52 games. He also spent two seasons with the Espanola Express of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), totaling 28 goals, 31 assists, and 69 penalty minutes.

"Zach knows how to play the game," said Chiefs Owner & President Jimmy Milliken. "He'll get into the dirty areas, he'll finish his checks, and he has the ability to find the back of the net. We look forward to seeing what Zach can do in a Chiefs uniform."

Matyasik joins a growing Chiefs roster that includes defenseman Jaxon Rutkowski, forwards Ray Falso, Kyle Cronin, and J.T. Entelisano and goaltender Tripp Clarke as the organization continues building a competitive roster for its inaugural season.
